Opia, a leading international risk-managed sales promotions consultancy based in the UK, has announced that Australian media and entertainment company Village Roadshow Ltd (VRL) has acquired 80% of its business for approximately £24 million.
Operating in more than 60 countries including the UK, Europe and the US, Opia is a fast-growing sales promotion consultancy business and market leader, delivering risk-managed sales promotion campaigns. It’s high-performance, data-driven sales campaigns are used by major blue-chip companies including major consumer electronics brands such as Samsung, Asus, HP, Dell, Lenovo and Motorola, as well as leading retailers such as Dixons Carphone, Euronics and Media World.
Opia’s Managing Director Andrew Marwick and Sales Director Steve Gales will retain a 20% holding in the company and continue to run the business on a day-to-day basis. Village Roadshow, headquartered in Melbourne, runs businesses in cinema, theme parks, film production and distribution and is publicly listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.
Opia will now become part of Village Roadshow’s Digital Division, together with Edge Loyalty Systems Pty Ltd, which it acquired in 2012.
