The arrival of two familiar faces at Aura Healthcare is a major boost for the company as it looks to build a high calibre sales organisation for the next phase of its development.
Paul Barrett is appointed as sales director, while Pat Cassidy has accepted the role of general manager for Ireland. Both are hugely experienced in sales and healthcare IT and both previously worked at iSOFT and CSC so are reunited with Aura’s founders Adrian Stevens and Mark Hindle.
Aura CEO Stevens said the move signals an intent to accelerate growth of the business. “Strengthening our sales capability, coupled with our continuous drive to innovate, ensures we remain on an upward trajectory and on course to meet our ambitious growth and financial targets.
“It can be difficult for small companies to compete with large corporates for the best talent, so being able to attract two professionals of this calibre demonstrates that we’re building something unique at Aura. Our employees are fundamental to our success in driving customer satisfaction and change in healthcare delivery.”
Barrett assumes immediate responsibility for all sales in mainland UK with a remit to build a strong sales and account management team over the coming months.
A familiar figure in healthcare in Ireland after nearly 40 years in the industry, Pat Cassidy is now responsible for all sales of Aura’s products and solutions in Ireland and will also maintain some international responsibilities. His experience in other territories, including Malta and the Caribbean, are invaluable to Aura’s international ambitions.
Cassidy said: “We all share an ethos of putting the customer first. Aura has a lot of young talent that is developing innovative, cost-effective solutions that meet a real need but, crucially, is able to adapt these quickly as requirements evolve.
“The company has already had some success in Ireland with its Note and Flow solutions."
Barrett added: “I’m relishing the opportunity to work with an agile company that can move at a pace that matches the market needs.
“I am excited by the products and a pipeline that meets the requirements of a modern-day NHS to improve the care of its patients. It is clear that Aura is an ambitious, forward-thinking company that is putting patients at the centre of its product roadmap. The fact Aura owns its IP and can easily customise its solutions to give customers exactly what they want with minimal fuss and bureaucracy is hugely appealing."
Barrat joins Aura from Level 3, a US-based communications company providing data, video and voice services, where he was account director, systems integrators. Before this, he spent five years with iSOFT/CSC, where he held several senior positions including head of UK sales, reporting to the then managing director Adrian Stevens.
Barrat started as an apprentice at British Telecom in a career that has included technical roles at Mitel Telecom and Lex Vehicle Leasing and nine years with Siemens Communications in a variety of senior sales positions.
Cassidy reported to Stevens during their time at iSOFT and joins Aura from CSC where he was account director. He held a number of senior sales positions during his ten years with iSOFT and previous 20 years with SMS (Shared Medical Systems). He began his career with IBM before moving to The Federation of Dublin Voluntary Hospitals and then to SMS.
“We are excited to welcome two high calibre individuals to the team and look forward to making further key appointments over the coming months,” Stevens said.
