Havells has appointed Paul Walker to the position of sales and marketing director and Gavin Williams to senior strategic business unit (SBU) manager – wiring accessories.
With over thirty years’ experience in the electrical accessories and switchgear industry, Walker is ideally placed to grow Havells’ business in established areas while spearheading the company’s forthcoming drive into new product sectors.
Walker spent 14 successful years at Electrium, a Siemens company, but the decision to join Havells offered a unique challenge that was too good to pass up. “The opportunity to develop and drive forward a business with the potential of Havells doesn’t come along too often and joining the company was a simple decision to make,” explains Paul.
“Right now we are in a strong position to build on some brilliant product development - our most valuable asset - while growing the switch gear business and building our profile in related areas.”
Williams joins the company from five years at MK Electric and is tasked with developing Havells’ single-phase switchgear business and launching Havells wiring accessories into the UK. He said: “It is an exciting time to be joining the organisation and I am very much looking forward to developing the wiring accessories business. We already have a great product range for single-phase switchgear and I will be building on this foundation of well-designed, robustly manufactured solutions offering an intelligent answer to the UK market needs.”
“Paul’s appointment as sales and marketing director is a milestone in the development of the Havells in the UK,” says David Ribbons, vice-president sales and marketing, Havells Sylvania. “We have very ambitious plans for the company and with his track record of success and sound commercial instincts he is the ideal candidate to take the business to the next level. With Gavin on board, we are delighted to announce that in early 2013, we will be launching a range of wiring accessories. These recent appointments further strengthen our position in the UK and we are now well placed to deliver UK market optimised solutions to meet local standards and regulatory requirements.”
Havells successfully entered the UK switchgear market in the second half of 2011 and has already launched the (fully flame retardant) Homesafe range of residential consumer units, and the Powersafe suite of Type A and Type B distribution boards, alongside a range of MCCB panelboards.
