Too many UK businesses are operating without a coherent sales plan and this is bad for the country’s economy. That’s the opinion of Leigh Ashton, co-founder of Sasudi, the online sales training, motivation and support platform.
Leigh and her company had met many of the event’s 25,000 visitors from across the UK during the The Business Show at Olympia in November.
“We were staggered to discover that, just one of the visitors we spoke to had a sales plan - and only 20% knew what their sales targets were.” said Leigh. “If this reflects the national picture, then only one in five business owners know what they want to achieve and precious few know how they’ll get there. This cannot be good for the country’s economy.”
Leigh’s experience at the The Business Show bears out the findings from research carried out by Sasudi earlier in the year. This highlighted a lack of confidence among owners of small businesses when it comes to selling.
Sasudi asked around 100 small business owners how they felt about selling. Astonishingly, 75% said they find selling stressful – and 80% of these people feel their aversion is affecting their business. Small business owners make up many of the 12 UK million adults living with stress and Leigh believes getting a sales plan can help. “By creating a plan, which Sasudi can help with, you can plot a profitable path through what can otherwise be an uncertain period.
