Almost two thirds (65%) of UK professionals said they are forced to accommodate changes to meeting times and locations more frequently than they did five years ago, causing disruption to their working day.
Travelling to meetings also interferes with productivity. The survey from global workspace provider Regus, found that almost a fifth of those surveyed (18%) find themselves wasting working time because of long journeys to meeting venues.
With research showing that travel costs and time spent going to and spent in meetings can cost businesses up to £16,000 per employee per year, companies could benefit from rethinking how they approach meetings.
Richard Morris, UK CEO, Regus comments: “Face to face meetings remain essential to doing business but there are still some companies that are failing to think outside the meeting room box when it comes to organising them. Traditionally, meetings are held at the office of one of the participants but that often needn’t be the case, and actually there are usually other options that are far more convenient for all involved.
“Using meeting rooms located at hotels or even motorway services can mean lower travel costs, reduced journey times, and consequently, increased productivity. What’s more, a change of environment can encourage creative thinking and dynamic decision-making.”
In an exclusive offer running until 31/12/2015, customers who book a meeting room at Regus Express Hilton Manchester Airport, Regus Express Hilton Warwick or Regus Express Watford Gap Services will get their next meeting room half price.
