A fast growing Newcastle sales training, outsourcing and consultancy firm has won an undisclosed contract to improve the sales and business development skills of a specialist team at a top East of England university.
durhamlane is working with Anglia Ruskin University, which has campuses in Cambridge and Chelmsford, to improve the business prospecting and sales skills of its 10-strong Degrees at Work team, which is targeting 300 new students a year for its Degrees at Work courses and extra sales.
The team offers tailor-made accredited training for employers, which enables employers such as the RAF and Harrods develop and nurture the degree-level skills of existing staff to meet their own workforce requirements rather than follow the graduate route.
durhamlane undertook an initial review of the Degrees at Work team to assess its effectiveness and areas for development before delivering training based around its proprietary methodology ‘Selling at a Higher Level’ to improve sales and team working skills.
This is the latest success for durhamlane, which is targeting an extra £250,000 in turnover in the next 12 months and looking to boost staff numbers to around 20 people.
The company founded in 2011 by directors Lee Durham and Richard Lane works across the UK for a wide range of clients who include global online assessment company The Test Factory, cloud-based accounting software specialists Xero and construction firm the Elliott Group.
Managing partner Richard Lane, based at durhamlane’s Windsor Terrace office, said: “Anglia Ruskin has recognised it must move with the times to remain a viable corporate training provider and has brought our external expertise to help.
“It is achieving the move to a better performing sales environment with our specialist training and is set to become one of the most ambitious and focused business within the commercial degrees business.”
The investment in training has provided the team with a harder hitting and more customer friendly approach to sales of its degree courses, according to Jan Skene, the Cambridge-based head of degrees at work for Anglia Ruskin University, who added:
“I was impressed by the fact that durhamlane took time to understand our business, and the culture of the team and organisation.
“They saw the world through our eyes to ensure that the training is relevant, meaningful and ultimately beneficial in helping us to grow our business.”
