rebuildingsociety.com, the peer-to-business company, has appointed Rick Hyland as its business development manager for the Yorkshire region.
Hyland will be responsible for growing the rebuildingsociety.com network among Yorkshire businesses and lenders.
The Leeds firm recently announced that it has passed the £1M borrowing milestone after a surge in interest from small and medium sized business (SME) borrowers and is set to target £20M of borrowing by the end of 2014.
Hyland joins from recruitment agency Reed where he was a senior consultant. Outside his day job, he also runs two Stagecoach Theatre Art School franchises based in Malton and Northallerton in Yorkshire.
Daniel Rajkumar, managing director of rebuildingsociety.com, commented on the appointment: “Rick is a relationship person. He has an easy rapport with everyone he meets with an excellent understanding of business. I’ve worked with Rick previously and know his drive and personality can help rebuildingsociety.com scale rapidly in the next 12 months."
Hyland said: “I’ve spent the past five years helping businesses get the right staff but I’m also a business owner myself, so I understand the frustrations that SMEs have with traditional finance.
“This market really is a win-win for businesses and I would encourage them to make contact to see how we can help. There is certainly a growing appetite among consumers to lend to successful businesses in a range of sectors.”
