1. Set your own Salary for 2015
Top sales people don’t work for companies, they work for themselves. They may be employed by companies but the best in the field see themselves as self-employed so sit down, think about what you want and set your own salary. How much money do you want to earn this year and how are you going to get it?
To achieve their goals, sales professionals understand that essentially they’re running a business and like any other business it has to make a profit.
2. Set your goals and stick to them
Great sales people set their own earning goals equal to or higher than the companies they work for.
This isn’t being unrealistic as it is based on what the sales person needs to do to reach each target right down to numbers of calls, conversion ratios and average selling prices. Remember rewards only come after the effort has been put in so decide how you’re going to achieve your goals and go for it.
3. Don’t be an average Joe
If you are an average sales person bringing in average sales you will only ever get paid an average wage. If you have truly decided how much you want to earn in 2015 then there is no room to be average.
Unless you visualise and believe you deserve the salary you have set yourself, you will never get paid more than you’re worth until you are worth more than you are paid.
4. Don’t play the blame game
The average Joes of this world will fall into the valley of excuses as soon as the road to success gets difficult. Top sales people never blame others from their failures. They take full responsibility and learn from the experience.
If you’re not hitting target it is because of something you are or not doing. Remember the answers lie in the mirror, so analyse everything and work out your areas for improvement. As the “MD” of your business you are responsible for tackling any problems and finding the solutions too.
5. Stay on track
The top sales people are among the highest paid people in the UK so to join the club you must stay on track.
If you are a sales person determined to have a great year in 2015, promote yourself to MD of your own business and give yourself the salary increase you deserve. Start today!
