After two years, Bex saw the position at Tiger Tiger and an opportunity to apply her sales skills to a brand new industry of leisure and hospitality. She has already implemented new structures for her team, developed initiatives for proactive selling and given a fresh pair of eyes to sales processes within business.
Deen’s sales career began after having a young family when she took on a part-time job in a call centre working in insurance. Within two weeks she was made team coach, in one month was promoted to team leader of 90 people and quickly discovered her aptitude for both sales and people management.
Deen also decided to study a degree in property development at the University of Portsmouth, graduated in 2009 with first class honours and was named student of the year by RIC. She refused job offers in London so as not to move her family and become senior branch manager at the Nationwide Building Society in Fareham, running the flagship branch by implementing brand policies and providing sales training her team of 30.
“It is a new challenge, but that is what I enjoy,” said Deen, 29. “I have the opportunity to use marketing tools such as social media which I was not able to use in previous roles and was lucky enough to start my role with the launch of our new bars – tropical, tiki-themed ‘Kanaloa’ and the glamorous, Moulin-Rouge style ‘Jewel’, which was exciting but hard work.”
When not working or being a mum, Deen goes to the gym every day, enjoys reading and relaxes by going for nights out with friends. “I am delighted to say that, even though I am now part of the management team, I still love Tiger Tiger for Happy Hour drinks on the balcony, then dinner in the restaurant and dancing in the club.”
