Nicola Hartland who heads up a Sales Generation Agency in Basingstoke was awarded Role Model Woman Business Owner of the Year 2016 at the Business Magazine Awards presented to her by Lady Michelle Mone OBE.
Judges were seeking nominations from entrepreneurial women who have founded and run their own company; women who have shown exceptional abilities in mentoring other women; and/or women who have helped their business achieve significant results in the past year.
The awards have major sponsors such as Blake Morgan, Barclays, Clarify, Taylor Made and Windsor Vehicle Leasing. Launched in 2013, the Women in Business Awards has attracted interest and support from women entrepreneurs, professionals, corporate directors and senior managers from across the south.
Ms Hartland who has 16 years industry experience started her career in IT sales, quickly rising to lead a sales team and at just 22, was appointed to Board Level and was part of the team that sold that business for over £10M.
In 2012, taking inspiration from a magazine article about sales, she set to work to create her own business and established Xcel Sales in 2013. With Ms Hartland’s hard work and determination to change the perception of Lead Generation and provide a professional service has seen her double the size of her company and generate £50million of pipeline opportunities for her clients.
Her efforts have clearly paid off. “We have had a recent surge in contract wins,” says Nicola. “That boosted our plans for expansion and led to the need for bigger premises.” The move required a six-figure investment but Nicola believes the investment in a new home for the business will pay off. “It was a big investment in terms of both money and time, but the move will enable us to improve our service to current clients, and continue to expand the business.”
By the end of this year, Xcel Sales Ltd plans to take on an additional 20 staff members
“I have a fantastic team of professionals working at Xcel, and the positive culture created within the company resulted in her nomination, which demonstrates the pride they have for the business”
The awards gala dinner was held at Oakley Hall, near Basingstoke.
